The new rule for guest hair: the same fabric as the dress
The first two of Vogue España’s guest hairstyle ideas are about fabric: a braid made with the dress fabric and a low ponytail with a bow.

Vogue España gathered 15 hairstyles for wedding guests. The starting point is familiar: the dress, shoes and accessories are chosen with care, while hair is left to the last minute. Yet hair is what finishes a guest look.
The first idea on the list is a braid made with the same fabric as the dress. The reasoning: hair should be cohesive with the look; with an off-the-shoulder or open-back dress, an updo tied into the outfit works better than loose hair.
The second is simple enough to do at home: gather straight hair at the nape and hide the elastic with a bow. Vogue calls it the style they would choose “without hesitation” for a daytime wedding.
A scarf does what the bow or the dress fabric does: it hides the elastic, ties the hair to the look and stays put on the dance floor. If the scarf given to guests is braided into their hair, everyone’s different dress meets in the same pattern.
