When the witness is a milliner: hats made for the mothers and the guests

Alessandra and Mario married at the Church of the Annunziata in Castro, Salento; the celebration was held at Hotel Piccolo Mondo, overlooking the sea and closely tied to the bride’s family history. Through the day the bride wore three looks, including Alexander McQueen and Paco Rabanne.
Each was finished by the famous milliner Philip Treacy. Alessandra worked beside him for eight years as his right hand and PR; at this wedding Treacy was both her witness and the designer of her headpieces. His hat for the evening was covered in mirrored discs that caught the light on the dance floor.
Treacy designed hats not only for the bride but also for both mothers and several guests. The bride’s brother, Raffaele, designed the earrings for her witnesses. The flower used in the bride’s bouquet was turned into a ceramic welcome gift for guests staying at the hotel.
At this wedding, the guests’ accessories are part of the story too: the mothers’ hats, the witnesses’ earrings, the ceramic gift in the room. A scarf designed for the guests does the same for more people; everyone joins the wedding in the same pattern.
